Dr. Satya Mallick

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

In 2017, IBM Watson’s blog named Dr. Mallick as one of the top 30 AI influencers to follow on Twitter. His work has been featured in publications like the BBC, Time, Huffington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, TechCrunch and TheRegister.co.uk. Dr. Mallick received his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego in 2006. Immediately after his graduation, he co-founded Sight Commerce Inc. — a computer vision company that creates vision and learning solutions for the beauty and fashion industry. Their virtual makeover product has been used by over 100M people in the world. Dr. Mallick also serves as the CEO of OpenCV.org.

Dr. Sunita Nayak

Co-founder & Senior AI Scientist

Dr. Sunita Nayak is an expert researcher in Computer Vision and AI. She received Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2008 from the University of South Florida. In her dissertation, she proposed and developed Computer Vision & Machine Learning algorithms to automatically learn and recognize signs in videos of native American Sign Language signers. Her pathfinding work helped the development of automated systems for the Deaf community to sign and communicate with others by translating American Sign Language to English text.

Dr. Nayak has published many papers in top scientific conferences including IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition and high impact scientific journals like IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. She has also worked in multiple startups and has many years of rich professional Computer Vision and AI experience in leading and directing delivery of consulting projects. She has also been a founding member of multiple startup ventures.

Dr. Matt Flagg

Vice President (Research)

Dr. Matt Flagg consults with multiple companies on computer vision R&D, patent development and product development. Flagg earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2010 from the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech, specializing in computer vision, graphics and human-computer interaction. Flagg's current research interests include the first markerless motion capture system for professional soccer, the best 3D face scanner for the iPhone, and identity document authentication. Prior to consulting, he co-founded a gesture recognition company named PlayMotion, which deployed hundreds of projector-camera systems in hospitals, museums and family entertainment centers including three divisions of Disney parks. He also contributed to the development of technology that won a technical Oscar while at Industrial Light & Magic. Flagg won a Best Student Paper award at the British Machine Vision Conference 2010 for a novel segmentation-based tracking technique. Flagg also received a Best Reviewer award at the International Conference on Computer Vision 2013 and regularly reviews for CVPR, ICCV, and ECCV. Outside of work, Matt is an avid kayaker and runner.

Pranav Mishra

Vice President (Technology)

Prior to joining BigVision, Pranav was a Co-founder at Lensbricks. Lensbricks built several technologies that helped identify key moments in a video. Pranav’s team developed a camera called Kiba which could find joyful moments in a camera recording. Pranav has been a researcher at Nokia Research and MIT Media Labs in the past. At Nokia Research, he won several awards for being the top innovator in Asia. Pranav has earned 15 granted US Patents in the field of Computer Vision. He completed his graduation from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay in Signal Processing and Communications.

Ankit Sachan

Vice President (Engineering)

Ankit loves to engineer products with deep and differentiated technology. Ankit is an expert in machine learning, computer vision and deep learning. He is the principal author of the popular computer vision blog cv-tricks.com. Earlier, Ankit co-founded iLenze, a computer vision startup that built scalable visual search engines powering some of the largest e-commerce brands in the world.

Recently, Ankit was recognized as a Google Developer Expert(GDE) in Machine Learning by the Google Developers Experts program established and administered by Google.

Ankit earned his Bachelor of Technology degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Vikas Gupta

Vice President (Courses)

Vikas is an AI & Computer Vision researcher with a Masters degree from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. His research interests are in the field of Machine Perception, Scene Understanding, Deep Learning, and Robotics. He has been leading the planning and development of our Computer Vision & AI Courses offered in partnership with OpenCV.

Vikas has been working in this field for over a decade, in various roles as a Professor, AI Engineer, and Data Scientist. He is passionate about education with many years of teaching experience in Computer Vision, Embedded Systems, and Robotics helping students and professionals. Prior to joining Big Vision, he worked with Samsung and Snapdeal on various projects involving Deep Learning and Computer Vision.


Bill Kromydas

Senior AI Engineer

Bill is a core technologist passionate about solving engineering problems. Prior to joining Big Vision, he worked in the space science and defense industries supporting several major development programs and research efforts both as a developer and technical manager. He has a broad range of experience and interests that span many disciplines including modeling and simulations, satellite systems analysis, cyber security research, machine learning and self-driving car technologies. He was a subject matter expert in his role as a primary developer for the analytic engine of the C2BMC missile defense planner which is deployed at Combatant Commands throughout the world, receiving formal recognition for his algorithm work. He also played a key role during the requirements phase of the SBIRS-Low satellite system in which he performed analysis and presentation of results at a high-profile government blind benchmarking review. Among many projects, he developed a prototype discrimination system to classify high speed targets in the upper atmosphere and also managed a research effort to classify text and audio data for use in a signals intelligence system.

Bill earned his Masters degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Aeronautics and Astronautics and also completed graduate course work at Stanford University in machine learning and image processing.

Vivian Cook

Director of AI Esthetics & Finance

Vivian is a University of California, San Diego (UCSD) graduate with over 15 years of experience in Operations and Client Services. Along her career, she has extended her education into Product & Financial Management and Esthetics. In 2010, she received her California Esthetician License and M.U.D. Make-Up Designory Certification. Her specialized background has led her to an exciting career in AI within the beauty industry and beyond.

Jyoti Mallick

Chief Operating Officer

Jyoti is a Technology Leader with over 2 decades of experience in the Credit Cards & Banking domain. Prior to joining Big Vision, he worked with TATA Consultancy Services, IBM and NatWest Group. He was leading the UK Domestic Payments Platforms at NatWest Group (formerly RBS Group) with responsibility and ownership of systems supporting the UK Domestic Payments services for the Bank e.g. Faster Payments, BACS, Account Switching, Cheque Clearing, Open Banking PISP.

Jyoti earned his Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from Sambalpur University (India) and has completed Post Graduate Programme in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Jyoti also serves as an Independent Director at OpenCV.org.
